The geography of a nation is an important factor which affects its politics, according to Tim Marshall, the author of the book "Prisoners of Geography Ten Maps That Tell You Everything You Need to Know About Global Politics."


Unlike the Americas and Western Europe, Eastern Europe and Asia are region with many disputed, shifting borders, and separatist movements in regions like Tibet, Abkhazia and Minandao. In many of these areas, Geographical features play a role in shaping the strategic interests, culture and demographics of the region.
